Māhualauhīnano

Keaukaha Resilency Center for Learning
Our current capital campaign is focused on developing Māhualauhīnano as a kīpuka of resilience—a place that sustains community well-being, mobilizes cultural and environmental knowledge, and supports preparedness rooted in aloha ʻāina and collective care. This hub centers ʻŌiwi resilience by creating a space where ancestral knowledge, cultural practice, and climate strategies converge. It is guided by those who know Keaukaha—its social, economic, and physical landscape, its histories, and its daily realities—and is being built to empower the ʻāina, its people, and its future.
Plans include:
-
Office and educational space for Hui Hoʻolimaluō and Ka ʻUmeke Kā‘eo.
-
Outdoor classrooms, māla, and native habitat restoration, especially through the restoration of inland brackish pools found on site.
-
Multipurpose hale for gatherings, workshops, cottage industry economic opportunities, and sheltering-in-place.
-
Renewable and sustainable energy systems, water collection, food forests and food growth production and storage, and emergency supply facilities.
